GA4 · Google Tag Manager · Conversion tracking

Tracking you can make decisions with.

If your ad accounts count page views as leads, or one sale twice, every bid and budget decision is built on the wrong number. I set up GA4, Tag Manager and conversion tracking so Google and Meta optimise for real enquiries and real sales.

In short

Noam Marketing sets up and repairs conversion tracking for Australian businesses that advertise on Google and Meta: GA4, Google Tag Manager, Google Ads conversions, enhanced conversions, and the Meta pixel with Conversions API. The goal is one counted event per real enquiry or sale, verified in testing before any budget decision is made on it.

Why it matters

The most expensive problem in most ad accounts is a counting problem.

In one Melbourne home-services account, Google Ads reported nearly 3,000 “conversions” over the period. Most were page views and small clicks. The real number of enquiries (forms, WhatsApp chats and tracked calls) was 217. Bidding on 3,000 fake conversions would have trained Google to find more page-viewers, not customers.

What I most often find:

  • Two conversion actions firing on one purchase
  • “Primary” conversions that are really page views, scrolls or button clicks
  • Form-button clicks counted instead of completed submissions
  • Phone and WhatsApp enquiries not counted at all
  • GA4 and Google Ads disagreeing by more than normal attribution differences

What’s included

What I set up, and how I prove it works.

  1. 01

    Audit

Every tag, conversion action and GA4 key event, listed with what it actually counts.

  2. 02

    Lead and sale events

A completed form submission (not a click), a purchase with value, and phone and WhatsApp taps as separate actions.

  3. 03

    Platform conversions

Google Ads conversions and enhanced conversions, plus the Meta pixel and Conversions API, deduplicated.

  4. 04

    Merchant Center

For stores: the feed health and product data that Shopping and Performance Max depend on.

  5. 05

    Testing

Every event tested in Tag Manager preview and GA4 DebugView to confirm it fires once per real action, then documented.

  6. 06

    A one-page tracking map

What each event means and where it’s used, so the next person can’t break it by accident.

Timing

How long it takes.

Tracking fixes take effect as soon as they are live. Ad-platform data then needs a couple of weeks to settle before bidding decisions lean on it.

Questions

Tracking, answered.

How do I track leads and sales from Google Ads correctly?

Count only completed actions: a submitted form, a purchase with its value, a tracked call. Set those as primary conversions, test that each one fires once, and keep page views and clicks as secondary. My tracking guide goes step by step.

Why don’t GA4 and Google Ads match?

They use different attribution and count at different times. Small gaps are normal; big ones usually mean a tagging problem.

Can you track phone calls and WhatsApp?

Yes, as separate actions from form leads, so they’re never double-counted.

Do I need Google Tag Manager?

Not always, but it makes changes safer and testable. I’ll use what you have if it works.
